I am the engine of my dreams! My dreams never give up on me and I never give up on them.

John F. Kennedy was born May 29, 1917; the second son of a wealthy and connected New England family.

He is an interesting figure in American history. Barely elected and not that popular during his presidency, the sudden death of this young President made him an icon. In the decades that have unfolded since, many have come to see the man as the last truly independent American President. And the circumstances around his assassination, perhaps more than any other single event, led to a cultural mistrust of power.

Regardless of his place in history or your political view of him, John F. Kennedy was one of the masterful orators of the 20th Century. Here are 11 of his best quotes. There may have to be Part II on this one. He has so many.

  1. “The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.”
  2. “Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
  3. "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."
  4. “If you make peaceful revolution impossible you make violent revolution inevitable”
  5. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
  6. “Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.”
  7. “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things. Not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
  8. “Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past, let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”
  9. “The very word Secrecy is repugnant in a free and open society.”
  10. "Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate."
  11. “A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.”

Follow your bliss. Experience your bliss. Become your bliss.
